Pharma Point on behalf of Cytokinetics is looking for an Associate Medical Director (Cardiovascular)– Italy

Cytokinetics is a late-stage, specialty cardiovascular biopharmaceutical company focused on discovering, developing and commercializing first-in-class muscle activators and next-in-class muscle inhibitors for diseases in which cardiac muscle performance is compromised.
As a leader in muscle biology, the company is advancing small molecule therapies designed to directly impact myocardial function and contractility.


The Role
Reporting to the Senior Medical Director Italy, the Associate Medical Director will play both a strategic and customer-facing role, supporting the implementation and execution of the medical launch strategy for Cytokinetics’ products in Italy.
The position will act as national lead of the field-based Medical team, managing the Italian Therapeutic Medical Scientist (TMS) team and leading field medical operations.
The role will also contribute to the build-out of the Italian Medical Affairs organization, working closely with cross-functional teams and providing strategic input at both local and European level.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as subject matter expert in HCM and cardiovascular disease, including aficamten and its competitive landscape
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the Medical Affairs strategy in Italy
  • Lead field medical operations and drive KOL/HCP engagement
  • Support medical launch activities for aficamten in obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (oHCM)
  • Manage, mentor and develop the TMS team, ensuring alignment on objectives and KPIs
  • Drive scientific engagement with key cardiology stakeholders and support clinical development initiatives
  • Ensure continuous training of the field team on scientific data and pipeline developments
  • Contribute to congress planning, advisory boards, medical education and publications
  • Provide medical input to Commercial and Market Access activities
  • Ensure full compliance with internal policies and healthcare regulations
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Medical, Commercial, Regulatory, Market Access and PV

Requirements
  • Advanced scientific degree (MD, PhD, PharmD)
  • Significant experience (10+ years) in Medical Affairs within pharma/biotech
  • Proven leadership experience in managing field-based medical teams (MSL/TMS)
  • Strong background in cardiology or related therapeutic areas
  • Experience in product launch environments, ideally in specialty care
  • Demonstrated expertise in KOL engagement and medical strategy execution
  • Strong understanding of the Italian healthcare and regulatory landscape
  • Excellent communication skills in Italian and English
  • High ethical standards, autonomy and ability to operate in a dynamic, evolving environment
  • Availability to travel at national and international level
  • Residence in Milan
